PAPRS is Seeking Sponsors for the 2022 Virtual Conference

In the true spirit of Psych Rehab PAPRS continues learning and adapting! The 2022 virtual conference is appropriately titled Facing Challenges: Resilience and Renewal.  In the past year we have lived our PAPRS vision of promoting the ability of all individuals to achieve their life goals through recovery and resilience-based learning through education, advocacy and networking. 

To achieve our vision we have updated our trainings to capitalize on virtual adult learning needs.  While some regulations have been suspended due to the pandemic, organizations have continued to look for educational and growth opportunities for their staff. To continue to meet that demand we need your help! We are looking to you, our dedicated champions of recovery services, to help us to continue to provide excellent, cutting edge educational opportunities. You can do that by again sponsoring our conference.

Dr. Lisa Miller, PhD is a New York Times bestselling author  and a professor of Clinical Psychology at Columbia University. She has done extensive research in spirituality and psychology. Her newest book  The Awakened Brain is a groundbreaking exploration of the neuroscience of spirituality and a bold new paradigm for health, healing, and resilience. Using her research and her personal journey she combines cutting edge research with on-the-ground application for people of all ages and from all walks of life.

Tami Thomas is the Coordinator for the Drop--in Centers of Mercer County.   Through the presentation Tami will share her journey of a turbulent dysfunctional childhood, hiding from the truth and her mental illness,  learning to live with her mental health diagnosis after deciding to leave treatment, self medication and its pitfalls and finally engaging in resources that were available to her.  She  attributes her recovery to accepting that she was out of options,  her own personal strength and meeting good professional people who were honest and she felt that they wanted her to succeed.  She was provided every possible tool and the motivation to use them.  Therapy, IOP and Psych Rehab helped her to develop new life skills and coping skills that helped her on her path/quest for mental wellness.

Michael Schlossberg  is a Pennsylvania State Representative representing the 132nd district since 2013. Representative Schlossberg is a member of the Democratic Party. He earned his bachelor degree in political science and psychology and his masters in political science. He has been an ongoing advocate for mental health services and is currently sponsoring bills on Addressing Shortage of Mental Health Services in Underserved Areas, a Mental Health Legislative Package and a Public Awareness Campaign to Address our Healthcare Heroes’ Mental Health.

Dr. Peggy Swarbrick, PhD  is the Associate Director of the Center of Alcohol and Substance Use Studies and a research professor at Rutgers University. Peggy has made significant contributions to in the fields of occupational therapy, nursing and community behavioral health focusing on topics such as the 8 dimensions of wellness, wellness coaching, peer support, health disparities and social determinants of health.
